Dear Aunt B, #4
Dear Aunt B, I am recently retired, and I am wondering what is next for me on my spiritual journey. I also wonder if anyone on the other side has a message for me? Thank you for considering my questions!
Signed, M
Dear M,
First of all—congratulations on your retirement! You’ve officially clocked out of the 9-to-5 and into the mystery of “what now?” Big transitions like this can feel both exhilarating and disorienting. Think of it less like the end of a chapter and more like walking into a whole new genre. The plot is yours to shape.
Since you're already on a spiritual journey, this next phase of your life is going to ask you to take this further. It’s an invitation to set a whole new rhythm—one that you get to set. You may find yourself naturally pulled toward more time in reflection, prayer, meditation, or connection with Spirit, Source, and Creator God or more curious to explore the physical and or spiritual world.
There’s something people don’t talk about enough: when you change your rhythm, your relationships will change too. Friendships that once felt fulfilling might start to feel different—not bad, just... offbeat. That’s because you’re becoming a different version of yourself. Some connections may drift, others will evolve, and new ones will emerge that feel more aligned with who you're becoming. Same goes for activities—what once filled your cup might now feel like a plastic lid on a boiling pot.
You’re suddenly gifted with a full ten extra hours in your day (give or take). That’s a lot of open space—ripe for reinvention. But reinvention doesn’t mean constant motion. Some retirees get stuck in the "Netflix-and-nap" spiral, while others dive into classes, books, podcasts, and workshops until their brain's more spiritually saturated than a sponge in holy water. The sweet spot? Learning + Living. Make time to study and explore, but also carve out room to practice what you’re learning. Build a rhythm—not a schedule—that nourishes your soul.
You might feel lonely at first. Don’t be afraid of that space. It’s not emptiness—it’s room being made for new friendships, new spiritual communities, and deeper connections than ever before.
The message I received for you is the three of swords. The image is so clear in my mind. The classic one with the red heart pierced by three blades. But in this image, the card is being turned over. The heart flips, and the swords begin to fall out. The pain, the sorrow, the old grief—they're loosening. They're being released not with force, but with grace. This is generational healing for you and yours. What you're walking into now is a time of deep, natural healing. The ripples will be felt not only in your bloodline but your community as well.
With excitement for your journey, Aunt B
